7 Simple Energy Healing Practices For Natural Wellbeing

10 minutes a day that will change your life for the better

Looking after our body’s subtle energy system is as vital to our health and wellbeing as exercise and diet are. It also happens to be very simple to do.

Here are seven safe and easy techniques that, if practiced regularly, will keep your energy body grounded, clear, and flowing.

They will also help to bring your energy into alignment with the earth and the universe, which creates a positive flow that attracts positivity and positive experiences in your life.

Altogether they take under 10 minutes to do.

1. Breathing into your heart

Sitting or standing or lying down, place a hand on the centre of your chest. Take a moment to feel your heart beating. Then imagine that you are breathing in and out of the area of your heart. Visualise the air passing in and out through your chest. Thoughts will come along but try to just keep gently focused on breathing into your heart. Do this for about a minute, or longer if you wish.

Over time this practice will gradually bring your energy down from the thinking centre in your head and into the feeling centre of your heart.

2. Belly breathing

This isn’t a visualisation. It’s a physical practice. Sitting or standing or lying down, simply begin to breathe with your belly. Let your chest be passive, and instead use your belly to draw in and push out the air. Let your belly fill and rise with each in-breath, and feel it fall and contract with each out-breath. Remember not to use your chest much at all in the breathing process, but let the belly do the work. You could place one hand on your belly, feeling it rise and fall, and the other hand on your chest, hopefully not feeling much movement there. Do this for a minute or more if you wish.

Over time this practice will deepen your breathing and allow more oxygen into your system. It will also help to relax your whole body so that your energy can flow more smoothly. It will also bring your energy down from your upper energy centres into the lower, more grounded centres.

3. Energy grounding

Standing or sitting with your feet flat on the ground, shoes on or off, inside our outside. Feel the connection between the soles of your feet and the ground beneath. Feel the solidity of the ground below, feel it supporting your feet and your whole body. Feel the weight of your body pressing down into your feet. Bring your awareness as fully as possible into the soles of your feet and really feel the contact between your feet and whatever it is they are standing on. Do this for a minute or however long you feel to.

Our feet connect us to the earth. By bringing our awareness into the soles of our feet we ground our body’s energy into the vast field of the earth’s energy, and open to let the nourishing energy of the earth flow into our body.

4. Connecting to the universe

Similar to grounding down into the earth, this practice is for grounding up and out into the energy of the universe.

Bring your awareness back into your heart by breathing into your heart. Then bring to mind anything or anyone that you have love for or that brings you joy. Feel that love in your heart, warm and generous. From there, visualise as best you can the vast space of the universe up above your head and all around you. Feel out with your heart into that space, up through the top of your head and out as far as you can go into the depths of the universe. Then imagine a pure, bright, golden energy above you, a light or a presence shining deep in the heart of the universe. Feel the radiance of that light and reach out to it with the energy of your heart, allowing it to pour down through the top of your head into your whole body. Feel the love of the universe flow into you. Do this for a couple of minutes, or for however long you have time.

It may take a few tries to get used to this practice, but opening to the vastness of the universal energy in this way and connecting to it with a loving heart is a deeply nourishing thing to do. Regular practice develops our conscious relationship with the universe, grounding us into the deep holding of that relationship.

5. Energy awareness and Self-healing

This practice is to help you start to get attuned to your own subtle energy. It’s very simple and can be quite an eye-opener to realise how easy it is to feel energy flow.

Begin by holding your hands out in front of you and rubbing them together until you feel the friction and heat building up. This will activate the energy centres in the hands. Then after 20 seconds or so stop rubbing and hold your hands an inch or two apart. Feel the energy between your palms, a bit like static electricity. You might feel that you hands want to move or rotate a little, or not. Either way, focus on feeling the energy between your hands.

Now, you can actually choose to intentionally funnel energy into the space between your palms. Give it a try. Feel the energy build between your palms for a while.

And there it is. It’s that easy to get in touch with your subtle energy and begin to move that energy with the power of your intention.

6. Slowing down

This is a very simple and light exercise to help you manage your energy when you’ve been racing around. The practice of self-mastery is about getting really good at being able to return to centre after having been off-balance. This exercise is great at bringing you back.

Just close your eyes and imagine that you’re driving a car very fast along a motorway. Really feel the speed and see the ground racing by in the eye of your mind. Then imagine that you firmly apply the brake and feel the car slow down. Try to feel the slowing down as vividly as possible in your body.

The more you practice this simple exercise, the easier and easier you’ll find it to slow your energy down whenever you notice it speeding. In time you won’t need to use the visualisation, it will be enough to notice the speeding and to create the intention to slow down.

7. Clearing your energy

Use this simple technique anytime and anywhere to clear your energy field of disturbances and negativity.

Visualise a shower of golden white light pouring down over you. Imagine that the light coming from a pure source and bathing your whole body. Now tell yourself that this shower of light is dissolving all negativity and disturbances in your energy field. Visualise whatever in your energy field that is not in your highest good being washed away. Now visualise your energy field shining pure and clear around you, whole and bright.

One minute is enough to do this practice. If regularly practiced it will keep your energy field clear and your sense of your own energy strong.


Doing these few easy practices every day or even every other day will quickly make a big difference to your subtle energy system.

You’ll find your energy is more clear, grounded and centred. You’ll also find yourself more naturally aware of your subtle energy, allowing you to be more sensitive to the state of your energy system from moment to moment. This sensitivity is key to being able to manage your energy system and self-regulate when it becomes disturbed, ungrounded or unbalanced.

Western medicine and philosophy have largely ignored the subtle body. But it is there, and looking after it can improve the quality of our experience enormously.


One more practice I’d like to share with you before finishing is how to clear negative energy in your home.

This is really just an adaptation of the previous technique, but this time using your intention to clear negative energy in your external environment in addition to that in your subtle body.

8. Clearing negative energy in your home

This simple practice helps to clear away negative energy in your environment and replace it with love and light energy. It’s really just a shift in mindset that can be applied as you go about your normal everyday cleaning tasks, and can be further adapted to any number of situations.

Simply create the intention in your mind that while you perform any physical act of cleaning you are also clearing the more subtle energy of your space. Then while doing the hoovering or washing up or whatever it is, keep that intention in your awareness. It is the intention that is key. You can imagine and visualise that the denser energy in your space is being actively cleared away through the power of your intention coupled with the physical act of cleaning.

This shift in mindset is all that is needed for you to start rapidly clearing the energy of your space. And with the clearing and uplifting of that space you will find that your own energy field becomes clearer and brighter too.

Do this for a week or two and you are sure to feel the difference in both your environment and your energy body.
